Who we are:

Medica Liberia (mL) formerly medica Mondale Liberia is a non-governmental women’s rights organization working in Liberia. Our Organization offers support to women and girls affected by sexual gender based violence (SGBV). Since 2006, medica Liberia has been implementing programs for women and girls in Liberia’s South-eastern parts and recently extended its coverage to Montserrado and Margibi Counties respectively, through funding from the German Government and other donors. medica Liberia is seeking to recruit two new staff for the below positions.

Position Title: Logistics Assistant

Duty Station: Grand Gedeh(with frequent travels to other projects sites)

Position Status/ Duration: Full Time

Reports to: Head of Finance/ Logistician

Position summary

Working in close collaboration with the Logistician and the Head of Finance, the logistics assistant is responsible to support the logistics department’s smooth functioning of logistical operations of project site(s) in the field.

Key responsibilities

  • Work closely with the Logistician and Head of Finance in Monrovia.
  • Management of Driver and Security Guards in Grand Gedeh and other field locations.
  • Timely and effective management of all mL logistics activities in Grand Gedeh and mL locations
  • Ensure all procurement of local supplies are done with emphasis on competitive purchase price and quality materials.
  • Liaising with the Finance Assistant to cross check suppliers’ invoice against submitted order
  • Cross-check Purchase Requests, Purchase Orders, Invoices and Way Bills/Delivery Notes for any discrepancies
  • Verify the quality, description and the quantity of goods ordered and inform the programme staff of the request status
  • Ensure all procurement documents are filed accordingly
  • Weekly work progress reports to be sent to the County Coordinator, Finance Manager and Monrovia Logistician, monthly written reports on fuel consumption, spare parts and maintenance running cost of equipment to be prepared for Grand Gedeh and other mL Offices
  • Monitor the maintenance and proper use of all logistical equipment (Vehicles, motorbikes Computers, Solar Panel and Generators etc.)
  • Manage the security guards in the office and report any performance issues to the County Coordinator
  • Provide weekly security updates to the County Coordinator
  • Create and implement an inventory and stock management system for mL’s equipment, office supplies, and materials at the mL Office locations to ensure constant supply of required materials and parts
  • Revise security roster cooperation with Chief of Security focal person; advise management on security measures improvements
  • Any other logistics related tasks that emerge on an ad hoc basis to support the program.

Experience/knowledge and skills

  • A university degree from a recognized academic institution in one or more of the following areas is preferred: Supply Chain Management, Business
  • Administration, Management, Economics, procurement of logistics.
  • Must have worked with or should have experience with the NGO sector in remote areas.
  • Minimum of three years’ work experience especially with donor projects.
  • Knowledge and experience with transportation, inventory management and distribution.
  • Knowledge of computer software, Excel & PowerPoint for documentation.
